If you have been watching the news lately, you have most likely heard the same recommendations repeated on how to stay safe from the coronavirus. Staying home is at the top of the list currently, with many governors issuing “stay-at-home” orders for their residents. These are put in place to help slow the spread of the virus and prevent the healthcare system from being overrun. It is important that we all play our part in slowing the spread of the coronavirus by staying in our homes, unless we need to leave for essential items such as groceries.
Social Distancing
It is recommended by the CDC that we distance ourselves at least 6 feet apart from each other, to avoid coming in contact with molecules that are released while talking, sneezing, or coughing, that could contain the virus. Some businesses have even placed lines at their locations measuring 6 feet to ensure their customers are at a safe distance while shopping. Nowadays, with the options we have available, the safer way to shop is to order what you need and either pick it up or have it delivered to your home.
Face Masks and Face Coverings
Wearing a face mask or face covering, has been another important topic recently. It is important to wear a face mask in public to avoid the inhalation of any molecules that may still be present in the air. With the shortage of face masks, many people have gotten creative with DIY face coverings. The CDC has even posted a walk-through on how to properly construct a face covering that will ensure the protection you need while you are out in public places. See the link at the bottom of this page to get instructions on creating a home made face covering.
